Artificial Intelligence and EdTech are Not Inevitable
Artificial intelligence should not be recklessly implemented in our schools. We must not allow our students to be lab rats for a technology that we know can be extremely harmful to young people. Big tech companies say that AI is inevitable, and that anyone who doesn’t use it is falling behind. This is not the truth. We have a responsibility to protect our students from foolhardy attempts to implement this dangerous technology. We need to slow down and listen to the researchers and scientists who know about the impacts of artificial intelligence.
AI is not inevitable. We need to be mindful about how we are exposing our children, and ourselves, to this harmful technology. Not to mention other screen usage and EdTech in schools. This technology is unnecessary, and if we are to implement it, we have to be mindful and evidence-based when making decisions about how it will affect our students. Our students are our future, and we want to give them the best education possible.
