Student Voices

SFEA is powered by volunteer families and community members who’ve spent hundreds of hours in meetings, building relationships, and doing the research.

Our core group of classroom educators and site staff provide knowledge of pedagogy, curriculum, classroom culture, and a worker’s perspective that infuses SFEA’s work.

SFEA believes that students deserve to be not just at the table, but at the head of the table. That’s why we work to include students of all ages in our organizing.

Our Organizing Committee

Brandee Marckmann (she/her)

Brandee Marckmann is a public school alum, SFUSD parent, and former educator who co-founded the SF Education Alliance to organize for inclusive community alternatives to stop the school privatization movement and devaluing of public education. Brandee began her career as the administrator of an adult English as a second language program. Currently, she serves on the school site council at her child’s middle school and also on the Elections Committee of the Children’s Caucus of the California Democratic Party. For fun, Brandee enjoys playing the flute, mountain biking, and having tea with friends.

Luz Huallanca (she/her)

Luz is a parent, an immigrant, and a public school advocate, committed to equity in access to quality public education.

Erin Dumont (she/her)

Erin Dumont is a proud SFUSD mom who’s passionate about public education, community, and making a difference. Raised in a family of public school teachers and a product of public schools herself, she knows firsthand how important strong, equitable education is. When she’s not working or volunteering, you’ll find her enjoying the outdoors, saying hi to every dog, or cheering on the Giants.
