I am a San Francisco resident who believes SFUSD should eliminate screen time in classrooms from preK through 2nd grade, and restrict student facing AI in SFUSD classrooms.

Generative AI use and excessive screen time carries severe risks to student well-being academically, socially, and emotionally. SFUSD should prioritize active learning that makes sure all students' needs are met.

• Eliminate screen-based learning for students from preK - second grade.

• No student-facing AI use in elementary schools, and prohibit “social companion” chatbots for students until age 16.

• Create transparent, robust systems of protection for student data and privacy for the use of technology and AI in public schools.
