This article from Emily Grimm outlines how SFUSD should strive to create an amazing public education system, and not sacrifice that in order to appease wealthy families. For far too long, SFUSD has catered to wealthy families and left underprivileged families behind. We need to be creating a public school system where everyone cant thrive.
Catering to parents who have the option to send their students to private school means more underprivileged students’ needs go unmet. Families who don’t have the money to send their students to private school need the resources that public school can provide. If those resources are focused on the students of wealthy families, underprivileged students fall through the cracks.
